Hu, Elise
Elise Hu (Missouri Alpha) is an award-winning journalist, entrepreneur, and author. 

Born in 1982, Elise Hu knew she wanted to be a journalist at 8 years old. After graduating from the University of Missouri with a major in journalism, she worked as a television reporter for CBS. In 2011, Elise joined NPR, and, just four years later, became the first Seoul, South Korea, bureau chief. Elise is a correspondent for Vice News, an at-large host for NPR, and the host for the podcast, TED Talks Daily. Elise has earned several prestigious awards for her work, including the National Edward R. Murrow Award, the DuPont-Columbia Award, and the Gannett Foundation Award.

Elise co-founded the company Reasonable Volume in 2019 to to amplify women’s voices in audio, launch original editorial projects, and collaborate with corporate and creative partners. Her first book, Flawless, was published in May 2023 and explores K-Beauty, its global influence, and the effect of technological advancements on the beauty standard.
